I mean, the schedule...it's pretty rad. We were done school at 2:15...err...17, 2:17. We had an hour and a half lunch, a scheduled two and a half months of summer break, and most importantly...eachother! Of course while all our friends were in one place, so were all our not friends. High school just sounds fun right now,but maybe its the sunshine getting to my head. I know high school sucked and I was miserable all throughout, but it's a bit of a comforting thought at this moment.
Also, I like Duncan. More so than Victoria. It doesn't quite feel like home, but it haunts me...in a good way. I guess it's the memories that hold me to this town.
We all seem to have problems being happy with, and accepting our lives the way they are at the time. Although my situation isn't completely ideal at the moment, I'm feeling pretty good about things. I have Dan which is just so great I don't even know how to express it. And my family. And while it's a little much, I do see how lucky I am to have them and their home to turn to. We have to MAKE our twentyfifth year fabulous because it won't just happen, right? It feels like this is the year when things are gonna start to fall into place. It'll be slow, but this is where it really starts.
I wish more than anything that we could all be in Duncan right now. Even just for one day. The four of us sharing a booth at the Arb, blackened cajun chicken burgers, arb burgers, sides of mayo and creamy dill dressing, coloring on placemats with crayons, and maybe for the first time, drinking beer. Perfection.
I never imagined things would be as good as they were in Montreal.. I miss you guys like crazy. And while at the moment we may not have wine and sausages, or sports and mayo, we have the last thirteen years to look back on, and the whole rest of our lives as friends to look forward to.

A Snowfall

It fuckin snowed here!! These teeny bits of garbage all turned out to be reciepts and bus passes from various depanneurs, Metros, PA's, and Pharmaprix's in Montreal. The very sight of the french language and the word "depanneur" instantly prompted an uncontrollable stream of tears, forcing me face-first into (into? onto?) the carpet. The carpet hurt my face. It scratched. But I stayed. I decided that why should my face hurt any less than the rest of my aching body, empty heart, and broken future. So yes, I stayed. Hurting. Face-first on the carpet.

I am about to watch "My So Called Life". More tears to come. Oh, and on the topic of "Remembrance Day"...am I the only one that thought it was spelt "Rememberance day"? I swear. Perhaps there is a difference in the spelling of American and Canadian Remembrance Day's, I don't know...but on tv listings it was spelt "Remembrance Day Ceremonies", or whatevs. Weird.

Anyhow, so my mother's birthday. We had a nice dinner in the dining room, and all I want is to document two conversations we had while eating dinner on my mother's fifty-seventh birthday.

Conversation number one

mother: So this girl at work, Suzie, asked how old I was, and when I told her, she said her mother was a year older than me. But Suzie has a kid.

me: Oh...You want a kid? You want me to have a kid? I'll have a kid if you effin want me to have a kid!

mother: Well, you might want to wait until there is someone that'll be around for a while and to help you raise the kid.

me: Well, don't hold your breath. If I wait for that, we'll all be waiting an awful long time.

mother: Why's that?

me: Because I don't like boys.

mother: What? You like girls now? "3-way", are you trying to tell us you're a lesbian now?

me: Yes. Happy Birthday!

sister: "3-way", don't try to take the spotlight away from mom!!

Conversation number two (my fave)

mother: Did you have fun last night?

me: Yes.

mother: Did you sleep in Dan's bed?

me: Yes.

Sister: (in a tone mocking mother's inappropriateness) Oh, did you have sex?

me: Four times.

mother: What? Really?

sister: Oh my god, can you guys stop talking about this. You are making dad uncomfortable!

mother: Oh, please. He's not uncomfortable. Why would he be uncomfortable?

sister: Oh gee, I don't know. Maybe because you are talking about your daughter having sex with her cokehead exboyfriend!?

me: (bite of zucchini) Four times.

A Song

"I don't wanna be anything other than what I've been tryin to be lately..."

I think i feel loneliest when our shows come on and I have no one to sing along with, but instead have to sit there, still and quiet, and just listen while the theme plays through.

This one's for you ladies. I just don't understand why we all have the same one when we are presesnted with so many other options.

I feel like it's time somebody makes a move...and a change.

And I am here today to tell you why this person should not be me.

I am afraid. The black makes me feel safe. I need to hide, and nobody can see me in the dark. It is here that my secrets are safe. Plus, I was like, the first one to use it. Tied for first anyhow. After much ho-ing an hum-ing, I accepted. This was a mistake. I am not nineteen, I did not find anything they said at all amusing, but finally had an excuse to put Transfer's "art of the fake laugh" in action. I should not hang out with these people. There was one kid, I'm told he is actually twenty-one, that was so abrasively annoying that I wanted to punch him in the face. Punch him in the face. They decided they would like to go to another bar, Lucky, and since I agreed to drive my cousin home and she was stoked to go to Lucky, I said I would go even though I really wanted to punch myself in the head by this point. So, because I am in BC, Lucky has a bouncer at the door IDing everyone. I reach for my ID but can't find it anywhere. Yay!! We have to go home. Ummm...I couldn't be so lucky. My cousin, five years younger than me, steps up and tries to convince the bouncer to let me in. A bus load of retards that work at the University bar show up woth beers in hand, to fill Lucky with their retardedness. One of these retards, lets call him Shannon (because thats his name) works as a bouncer, and decides to take this up as his cause and pull whatever strings he can grab and get me into this bar. The only way this could have gotten anymore embarrasing, was if someone I knew were to show up. Oh wait, someone I know did show up. She isn't anyone important, but nonetheless, I was feeling like a pretty big loser by this point. Since I know you are all dting to know who it is, I will call her "Blair". Crosswalk and Ham Pancake, you will remember her from the days of Team Wheatus (ahahahaha...Team Wheatus!!) and that online diary thing we had. Transfer...ask those two. That was pretty much it, I'd had enough and we took to the car for some driving and Tom Petty.

On a side note...I want to do Tom Petty. Too bad fake Tom Petty wasn't real Tom Petty.

Why the eff do we all have the same blog template? thants kinda bunk guys.

A home

So I have returned to a home that is not the same house I left. My suprise went off without a hitch, and as you already know, I achieved my goal of making my mother cry at my return. It was an anxiety filled day I tell you, enroute for twelve hours. I was so excited and my heart was racing as such that in the morning I could not even handle a cup of coffee.

The house, and just about everything in it, are brand new. I feel slightly out of place. "Where are the forks?" I've gone from Garbagetown USA, to Yuppyville CDA. I just don't know what to do with myself in this town. The only people I have any interest to see are all the way on the other side of this country. There are no words to describe what it feels like to be here. I challenge you to acurately convey what being in our hometown does to us. It's so fucking easy to feel sorry for myself here. I just don't know what it is. Good thing I am dead inside, otherwise this might become a problem.

My sister thinks I am annoying.

Kissy Cat* is still a jerk and teeny-tiny as a kitten.

The only thing I know anymore is that this time, this time I am not going to let this town swallow me whole.

*Unlike "Jeff" my cats name has NOT been changed to protect her identity. Perhaps it is because I do not get your joke. Perhaps with my absence you no longer know what funny is. Is it because we think it would be funny if we had to put real Jeff down? I mean....errr...."Bill". If we had to put "Bill" down? I don't effing get it. But I don't mean to make light of the situation with "Jeff". RIP "Jeff". Can we put that on her cat tombstone?

An Update?

I am in Toronto. And although I am leaving and couldn't guess when I'll see you again, and can't bear to think about my life without you again, I wouldn't change a thing. I believe my life is perfect. I believe all my relationships are perfect. I even believe that this moment, sitting at the bus stop, the cold penetrating my wool, smoke permeated, cat puke encrusted jacket, causing my teeth to chatter, is perfect. That the feeling in my tummy, the nauseaus feeling like the leaves tumbling down the street in the wind are actually tumbling around in my tummy, i believe that this feeling is also perfect. You should all feel this way. It's nice to feel that everything is perfect the way it is for that moment. It makes me hopeful. We are all so fucking different. We are all so fucking perfect. Together we are all so fucking perfect. Thank god for you three. And the hilarity when we are together...the knee-slapping hilarity. Shit you guys, even hangovers are among my fondest memories when spent with you! You are family, and that's why goodbyes are so easy, slash hard. I wouldn't change a thing.

With love like this we really should marry.

heart.
3-way

An Installation

Recently, eight-hundred-times and I completed a new installation we have entitled "Garbagetown USA". The pieces were created late one evening in the neighborhood of Mile End when the creative juices were not only flowing, but dare i say, overflowing. The fury of emotion involved, and the lack of verbal communication but rather an unspoken knowledge of what we had to do, result in, what i believe, to be our best colaborative work to date.
